Rail has allowed crude oil production to surge by moving oil from domestic oil fields which do not have access to pipelines or tankers to underserved markets. These crude oil shipments generate federal, state and local revenue from the value of crude oil, new rail car construction and manufacturing, and other rail related jobs, including operations, inspection and maintenance.
